Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in south-western Uganda along the edge of the Albertine Rift and covers approximately 330 square kilometres. The park protects one of Africa's oldest montane rainforests and is internationally recognised for its population of endangered mountain gorillas and exceptional biodiversity.

The forest encompasses steep hills, dense rainforest, bamboo and montane vegetation, supporting almost half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. It is also home to chimpanzees, several other primate species, forest elephant and an exceptional diversity of birds, butterflies and plants, including numerous Albertine Rift endemic and near-endemic species.

Bwindi is divided into four main trekking sectors - Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo - each offering access to habituated gorilla families and different forest landscapes. Activities include guided mountain gorilla trekking, gorilla habituation experiences in selected sectors, guided forest walks, birdwatching and community visits. The park can be visited throughout the year, although forest trails can become steep and muddy during periods of heavier rainfall.
