African Horseback Safaris
Welcome to African Horseback Safaris
African Horseback Safaris were early pioneers of horse riding safaris in Africa, and are based out of Macatoo Camp in the Okavango Delta where rides are across 450,000 acres of pristine wilderness.
The pace of riding is varied; in between fast and thrilling gallops alongside giraffe, zebra and antelope, in water and on land, bigger game such as buffalo and elephant. There are nearly 50 horses of all shapes and sizes in the barn, and a choice of western or English saddles – riders must be riding fit and confident at all paces.
Guests are accommodated in eight large and airy tents that blend seamlessly into their natural surroundings with each tent set on its own large, raised platform, offering panoramic views of the flood plain. The camp has a central dining and lounge area, and a pool for those hot days.
Non-riding spouses, partners, friends and children are very welcome in camp with a range of activities on offer including game drives, seasonal boating safaris, mokoro rides and fishing.
