BONTSINTSI HORSE SAFARIS

Bontsintsi Horse Safaris takes you to the heart of Botswana – one of Africa’s most celebrated big game safari destinations. Here, you will traverse the vast floodplains of the Okavango Delta, overnighting in mobile camps and dining in beautiful wilderness settings. 

 

Run by Herman and Louise Kroon and their family, the Bontintsi horses are pinto (painted) horses, made up of various breeds. Within the pinto parameters, horses are selected for temperament: horses that are calm, gentle and brave. The calmer they are, the calmer the wildlife, thus enabling incredible close-up encounters with game on safari.

Safaris start at the base camp - Jumbo Junction - and then riding out to multiple mobile camps during the 5 or 8 day safari expedition - safaris are for experienced riders only. Base camp has 6 tented units and comfortable chalets, each with its own en-suite bathroom. The camp has a pool and central lounge and dining area. The mobile camps are set up at temporary campsites in the bush with the tents, shower, toilet and the kitchen being built and removed for every safari.
