KAYILA CAMP
Established in 1989, Rovos Rail offers world-class travel experiences through the heart of Africa combining magnificent scenery with the glamour and excitement of the golden age of leisure travel. There are a series of journeys lasting from 48 hours (Pretoria to Durban) to 16 nights (from Cape Town to Dar es Salaam) with a variety of off-train excursions. The trains’ private station is at Capital Park in Pretoria and site tours and visits to the museum are available if departing from there.
The beautifully rebuilt wood-panelled Edwardian-style trains, which may be hauled by diesel or electric locos, each carry a maximum of 72 passengers in 36 suites. There are three carriage suite types: Royal ±16m2, Deluxe ±10m and Pullman/Pullman Gold ±7m2.
The public cars include observation cars – with big picture windows and open air balcony, lounge cars with big windows and sofas, dining cars - set up as two-seaters and four-seaters - and club cars – with a glass passage wall to enjoy the scenery on both sides of the train.
Children: no under 2, and no under 5 in the lounge or dining cars
Open: year round – journeys have set dates and the train is available for private hire
