KAYILA CAMP

This permanent lodge is set in a pristine riverine forest on the edge of an oxbow lagoon above the Mussicadzi River, offering an intimate and eco-friendly safari experience in Gorongosa National Park.

In 2027, the accommodation will expand with three Island Tents, complementing the existing six safari tents. Located across the river on a small, secluded island – hence the name – these tents offer an added sense of privacy and immersion in nature. The Island Tents can be booked on a per-person basis, or reserved together for an exclusive island retreat, ideal for a group of friends or family travelling together.

Tents are spacious and feature an en-suite bathroom and private deck and are connected by wooden walkways.

The main lounge and dining area is set beneath a deep canopy of trees and has pool and a large shaded deck with an open-air fire pit.

Activities include game drives, walking safaris, boating (seasonal), community visits, E.O Wilson Lab tours, Mt Gorongosa day trip (extra), pangolin foraging walks (included on stays of 5+ nights), night drives (extra), and Helicopter flights (extra).

Children: no under 12

Open: 1 April – 30 November
