KAYILA CAMP
The lodge is set in well-established gardens just 30 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport. The property dates back to 1959 when Hungarian conservationist, Dr Andreas Von Nagy, bought it as a family home and the main building (housing the bar, lounge and dining room) was originally a farm manager's house.
It sits between the Usa River and an expansive Garden Sanctuary which is home to a herd of domesticated water buffalo, birds and monkeys, including the Colobus monkey.
Outdoor dining is under the leafy shade of giant mango trees, and there is a pool and riverdeck.
There are 24 chalet rooms including 20 double rooms (8 of which are interconnected), 1 single room, 2 family units consisting of 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom, and 1 generously sized single-unit family room (also suitable for triples). 4 rooms are wheelchair accessible as are the pathways traversing the property.
Optional activities include coffee farm tours, cultural walks, mountain biking, forest walks and canoeing on Lake Duluti.
Children: all ages welcome
Open: year round
