MATOPAS NATIONAL PARK

Heading 1

KAYILA CAMP

Owner run since it opened its doors in 1994, the lodge sits inside this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Founded by the late Alan Elliot the lodge continues in the family to this day.

Seventeen stone-and-thatch chalets sit among the kopjes, each one opening onto a private veranda with views across ancient rock formations. One of these is a family lodge.

The main lodge houses the bar, lounge and dining room although dining is often out on the granite itself. The lodge also has a conference room.

Activities here include game drives in the national park, rhino tracking  by vehicle or on foot, exploring the many historic San rock art sites, and visiting the tomb of Cecil John Rhodes up in the granite hills.

Children: all ages welcome

Open: year round
