KAYILA CAMP
This family owned and run property is within the 62,000-acre Lewa Wildlife Conservancy on the eastern edge of the Laikipia Plateau. There is a small sustainable, working organic farm on the property that provides the lodge's fresh fruit, vegetables, dairy, and eggs.
The main homestead is a large and welcoming space with lounge areas, several dining spaces, outdoor viewing and a star-gazing deck. There is a bush gym, a dedicated yoga deck, swimming pool and tennis court.
There are just nine thatched guest cottages - 6 are tucked into the hillside overlooking the Eastern Marania Valley, and 3 two bedroomed garden cottages are set amongst the beautiful lawns. One hillside cottage is a two bedroomed suite, furthest from the main area, with endless views from the outdoor verandah and its own private plunge pool. All the cottages have a sitting area and fireplace, and a private outdoor verandah.
Private Wilderness is anew exclusive use property, located just two kilometres downstream from Lewa Wilderness. It runs independently, and has five individual thatched cottages, set along the tranquil valley of the Eastern Marania River.
Activities include game drives, guided walks with the Masai, horse riding safaris, camel riding and seasonal fly camping; scenic flights in a vintage WACO bi-plane are also available, as are day trips to Ngare Ndare Forest.
Children: all ages welcome
Open: year round
