KAYILA CAMP
This Nomad camp sits tucked amongst the rocks of Kogakuria Kopje with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, only a few miles from where the wildebeest cross the Mara River, in the far northern reaches of the Serengeti, just south of the Kenyan border. It’s a prime wildebeest migration point between late July and October.
The camp has an understated style blending into the rocky scenery of the hillside; furniture and artefacts are made by skilled Tanzania artisans and one-off pieces local pieces are sourced in-country and upcycled.
There are twelve stone and thatch open-fronted rooms, raised on wooden decking, with mosquito netting that can be zipped closed, and canvas roll-downs if needed. Three of the rooms have an adjoining twin room for children, sharing the bathroom. Each room has a comfy day bed and chairs for relaxing on the verandah.
Four of these rooms are in Lamai Private – a small sister camp that can be incorporated into the main camp or run separately.
Activities include game drives and seasonal bush walks.
Children: no under 8
Open: 1 June – 15 March
