CHILO GORGE LODGE
WELCOME TO CHILO GORGE LODGE
Chilo sits dramatically high on a cliff top overlooking the Save River and Gonarezhou National Park.
The tall main thatched complex houses the bar, dining and lounge areas as well as a conference room; and a pool set in extensive decking and indigenous gardens.
The 10 thatched chalets are spread out along the cliff on either side on the central area. Two of these are set next to each other connected by a balcony - perfect for families.
Chilo is the brainchild of renowned conservationist Clive Stockil who grew up in the area with the Shangaan community, and much of the lodge's roots are entwined with the neighbouring local Mahenye Village.
Activities here include game drives and (seasonal) walks in the national park, a 3 km walking trail from the lodge to the beautiful Chivilia Falls, and unique birding opportunities in the nearby sand forest.
Chilo also offers self-catering accommodation in Nhambo - a unit of 4 chalets and a family unit at the far end of the lodge.
In the dry season, 1 May - 31 October, Mahove Tented Camp (6 tents) offers bush camp stays in the park. For the more adventurous the Ivory Trail (1 March - 31 December) is a mobile fly camping unit (dome tents) for a maximum of 8 guests (no under 6).
Children: all ages welcome
Open: year round
