KAYILA CAMP

Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms, set at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley. The hotel is characterised by thick whitewashed walls, elegant gables and hearty fireplaces, emulating an authentic farmstay experience.

The farm has acres of fruit and vegetable garden at its centre with gravel or peach pip pathways meandering through, and it is a working farm with chickens and ducks and other livestock.

There are several restaurants – Babel, the Greenhouse, the Old Bakery; as well as the Garden Spa for treatments and has a hammam (steam bath), chill room, hot spa and gym.

There is a variety of accommodation – the Farmhouse with 9 one bedroomed suites, 14 garden cottages and 8 fynbos cottages, the Red Studio and Fowl House, as well as a three bedroomed Manor House and a five bedroomed Fynbos Family House.

There are garden tours, guided plant collection tours, essential oil tours, tours to Rietvlei – where a herd of water buffalo are milked for yogurt, cheese and ice cream, guided mountain drives and excursions to Soetmelksvlei, an interactive farmyard set in the late 19th century.

Other activities include hiking, cycling, fishing, bread baking, yoga and more.
