AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Heading 1

KAYILA CAMP

This lodge is set in a fever tree forest in the heart of Kimana Sanctuary, Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy. It is in the Kajiado County (Loitokitok District), nestled between Amboseli National Park, the Chyulu Hills, and Tsavo West National Park.

There are 10 guest suites - including two sets of family, or interconnected, suites, all with views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Each suite has floor-to-ceiling screened doors leading to a private deck with a shaded lounge area, an outdoor shower and Angama's signature rocking chairs.

The main area houses the lounge, dining and bar section as well as a spa and swimming pool and the design inspiration is elephants – from their rounded shapes to their bold nature.

There is a 360-degree viewing platform known as the Mnara -  a custom-built raised observation tower positioned above the lush marshlands of the Kimana Sanctuary.

Activities include game drives and bush walks on the conservancy; games drives into Amboseli, day trips to Tsavo West National Park; Experiences with Big Life Foundation (the anti-poaching and wildlife management unit); and balloon safaris (at an extra cost).

Children: all ages welcome

Open: year round
