Remote Africa, South Luangwa

The owners of Remote Africa Safaris, John and Carol Coppinger, have been in the Luangwa Valley for more than twenty years, so you know you're experiencing the wildlife-filled Valley at the hands of people who know it well.

And, if game viewing with a difference interests you, then this is for you: Remote Africa Safaris are the only operator to offer game viewing by mircolight, soaring above the Valley and spotting undisturbed wildlife below.  From February to April you can also experience a canoe safari on the Luangwa River.

Tafika Camp

Tafika Chalet Tafika Camp in South Luangwa National Park offers a comfortable, personalised experience, with excellent guides and a reputation for good food.  A maximum of twelve guests enjoy the comfort and beauty of six spacious chalets nestled in the shade of giant lead wood trees on the banks of the Luangwa River. Facilities are en-suite with outdoor showers! It's in a remote area, distant from other lodges and camps, with outstanding game viewing.

Chikoko Trails Camps

Chikoko Trails 1 The walking safaris at Chikoko Trails start before you arrive - you reach the camps on foot escorted by experienced guides. This is a completely different type of game viewing - getting you very close to nature without disturbing the environment. Using two exclusive bush camps, Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp, a Chikoko Walking Trail takes you deep into the wilderness of South Luangwa National Park.   The crossing point at Perekani is the same one that David Livingstone used to cross the Luangwa River in December 1866, writing:

"I will make this land better known to men that it may become one of their haunts. It is impossible to describe its luxuriance."

Chikoko Tree Camp has three twin chalets, raised above the ground, within the tree canopy. This enhances the view of the acacia grove in front of camp where a constant array of wildlife activity unfolds throughout the day.

And the second camp, Crocodile River Camp, has three chalets imaginatively constructed of thatch and natural materials – delightfully simple, perfectly comfortable. It rests beneath a grove of magnificent ebony trees, overlooking a dambo and the action of a day in the wild.

Remote Africa Safaris also have a camp in North Luangwa, offering walking safaris in the wilderness.
