North Luangwa National Park

Far more remote than South Luangwa, this park is as wild and untouched as Africa gets. There is no direct public access - you can only experience the park at the hands of walking safari guides.  And that's where we come in.  We've picked the best guides and nearby lodges in order to provide you with the best opportunity to experience nature undisturbed.

North Luangwa National Park preserves over 4000 square kilometres of wildlife habitat on the west bank of the Luangwa River from human interference.  Declared a wilderness area in the 1950s, it was not until the 1980s that anyone other than park rangers were permitted in the park.

On walking safari in the park you're likely to encounter massive buffalo herds, prides of lions with ever-hopeful hyaenas and vultures following their movements.    The park is also noted for zebra, impala, Cookson's wildebeest and vervet monkeys.  However, the primary reason for visiting North Luangwa is to experience nature undisturbed: close up and on foot. A truly memorable safari.

Take your memorable journey with either Remote Africa Safaris or Kutandala Lodge, both owner-operated by people who live and breathe Luangwa.
