Mfuwe Lodge is one of the few permanent lodges inside South Luangwa National Park and the well appointed individual chalets overlook an oxbow lagoon that attracts a wide range of animals. Activities take place in open safari vehicles fitted out with Derek's sound equipment including individual headsets.
November is wild mango time with huge quantities of fruit produced by these spectacular trees attracting elephants and other animals from far and wide.
The enormous wild mango set in the grounds of Mfuwe Lodge is 'owned' by a family of elephants led by a matriarch - fondly known as 'Wonky Tusk - and every day she leads her family up the stairs of the lodge, through reception and into the small clearing to feed on the mangos!
To witness this phenomenon is not only a once in a life time experience but also offers some of the most amazing photographic opportunities and now Derek will be on hand with his recording equipment too so that you can listen in to the herd's private conversations!
The cost for this very special safari is US$1890 p/p sharing, US$250 single supplement.
