From the end of May onwards it has been a very busy start to the season for us, with a couple of international farming groups and quite a number of private safari clients, reminding us that the “safari season” has arrived. Many safari camps only open their camps in June and run till end of October / mid November as they are not accessible during the rains.

An International group of Young Farmers or “Next Generation” from the Royal Agricultural Society of Commonwealth, recently visited Zambia. We had representatives from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, Kenya, Uganda and South Africa. They visited saw small and large scale farming operations. Besides experience what life is like in the rural areas of Zambia, they shared their knowledge with the small scale farmers and assisted in judging at the Kafue Agricultural Show. The group also had the honour to be invited to State House and visit the President of Zambia, Levy Munuwasa. The group then went off on a short safari to the Lower Zambezi and visited The Victoria Falls.
Jackie Peel was recently with a group of New Zealand Farmers in Livingstone and Chobe and gave me copies of some of these great photos she took
At this time of year the Victoria Falls is pumping over - quite a spectacular sight to say the least!!

Chobe National Park in Botswana is a great place to visit if you only have few days in which to see wildlife. It is only 2 hours drive from Livingstone so many clients can just go to Chobe for a day trip, There are a number of large resort lodges and a few smaller more personalised safari camps / lodges.
From Chobe it is then very easy to fly clients to some of the smaller more exclusive safari camps and lodges in the Okavango Delta. Many of our clients combine Zambia and Botswana.

Ian and I were having one of those stressful weeks, and the girls were complaining that they never saw us at weekends as were either working or with clients. So when we had a weekend free we decide to take the girls to South Luangwa National Park for a quick visit. South Luangwa is my personal favourite National Park in Africa. We stayed at Mfuwe Lodge, which is where we put many of our groups. It is also the flagship or base camp for all the Bushcamp Company's camps. A great lodge to relax and take children too. The food is excellent, very comfortable accommodate and you can watch game from you’re the veranda of your chalet
The game viewing was exceptional, lots of elephant, lion, huge herds of buffalo and we saw three different leopard sightings in one night. One particular game drive, Ian was telling the girls that this is the place where I come with our clients, to which Carey replied, “I thought you worked mum but you are on holiday!!!” Yes it is a tough job I have!!!
At last we have our new web site up and running, a few things have to be tweaked here and there and some additional pages will be added. You can look it up on
www.zamagsafaris.com. We are happy to receive any constructive criticism.
Till next month.
Cheers for now
Ian and Daphne Lindsay
