Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero borders Chobe National Park. The lodge is situated above the Chobe River and offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia. Accommodation is in 15 air-conditioned cottages and the main public area includes a lounge and dining room, which are linked to outdoor viewing patios. Chobe Chilwero also boasts the first full service spa on the Botswana Safari circuit.
The lodge is accessible by road and air. Kasane has its own international airport, which is approximately 10 minutes away by road. Chobe Chilwero’s preferred air charter company, Mack Air, offers an excellent service linking most camps in the region including Baines’ Camp, Chief’s Camp and Stanley’s Camp (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes).
Chilwero means “place of high view” in the local language of Setswana. Each of Chobe Chilwero’s 15 cottages measures 61 square metres and has its own ensuite bathroom with a modern bath, indoor and outdoor showers, private garden with hammock, private balcony, mosquito nets, ceiling fans, air-conditioning, hairdryer, minibar as well as an in-room safe. The main public area includes a lounge and dining room, which are linked to outdoor viewing patios. The wine cellar is temperature controlled and houses a large variety of South African wines. The spa offers a range of spa and hydrotherapy treatments from both the Thalgo and Africology ranges.
The lodge also boasts a split-level swimming pool, library, curio shop and a communications centre, which offers telephone, fax and internet access.
